Make yourself at home.

1.       Find or create your desired graphic (picture) and size it to 310x90 pxl.

2.       Place your picture in your Photobucket album with a small name. (long names won’t work)

3.       Select your picture in your Photobaucket album by clicking in the small box under the picture.

4.       Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and look for the long blue box labeled “Generate HTML and IMG code”. Click it. You will see 4 different types of code. Click on the last box of code to get an auto copy of it. It will look something like this: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg215/YourUserName/PicturesName.jpg

5.       Place this code for your picture into the HTML code I have listed below where you see the example picture code from above(step 4). Be sure to copy exactly. Any little dot, sign or letter mistake can cause it not to work.

6.       Copy your stores URL address or your websites URL address and paste it in the first line of the code below exactly as you see it. Ex. My address is:  http://www.stores.ebay.com/Ds-Books-N-More I would copy this and place it in the code below exactly as you see it making sure not to disturb the code before or after the address.

7.       To have a pop up window when people rest their cursor over your banner, enter YOUR key words in the second line of code below as I have done for my store. Ex.

8.       To help optimize the search engines abilities of finding your store/website place YOUR key words in the last line of code below as I have done. Ex.

  =" Ds_gifts ~ educational, books, CDs, toys, homeschool"

9.       OK…you have your code for a clickable banner…but your not finished yet. You need to test your code. So long into http://practicewriter.com/ Paste your banner code into the top area of this PracticeWriter and then click on the pink Save button. Your banner should show up in the window below. If you do not see your banner then check your code above for any mistakes. They are usually small things like comma’s, periods, spaces, back slashes, quotes etc. Continue to work with this code, remembering to click on save after each try of correction, until it shows in the window below.

10.   Once your banner shows up in the window below click on the banner to make sure it takes you to the desired place, your store or website. If it does…then you are good to go. Copy your code into a file and save it on your desktop for future uses. You might want to save it in more than one place.

1.       Log into the Group.

2.       On the left hand side of the screen, under your picture, look for “My Content” and click it.

3.       Now click on Preferences.

4.       Find “Signature” (5^th one down). In the white box next to “Signature” paste your code.

5.       Now scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click on the SAVE box. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. IF YOU FORGET TO SAVE YOUR BANNER WILL NOT SHOW UP.

6.       Go back to the group and post a message in the “Test” thread. You should see your new banner on your message AFTER you hit the send button. (Your banner/siggy will not show up until AFTER you send your message.)
